Customers can bring their worn or underperforming camshafts to our facility for a complete technical evaluation and restoration service.

Detailed Inspection and Scheduling

Each camshaft undergoes a meticulous inspection process. After cleaning, we check the shaft for straightness, measure lobe lift and duration to quantify wear, and inspect journals for scoring and out-of-round conditions. This detailed analysis allows us to create an effective reconditioning plan and schedule the service.

Reconditioning Process

Merdeka Precision provides a range of specialized camshaft reconditioning services, including:

Camshaft Lobe Grinding: Using a dedicated camshaft grinder, we accurately regrind worn lobes to restore their original lift and duration profile, which is essential for proper engine timing and power delivery.
Camshaft Journal Grinding: Machining the main journals to the next standard undersize to eliminate wear and create a perfectly round surface for the bearings.
Camshaft Polishing: Micro-polishing all lobe and journal surfaces to an exceptionally smooth finish. This reduces friction and prevents premature wear on lifters and bearings.
Camshaft Straightening: Carefully correcting any bends or runout in the shaft to ensure it rotates perfectly true within the engine block or head, preventing binding and excessive wear.
Lobe Weld Repair: For valuable or hard-to-find camshafts, we offer specialized welding services to build up severely damaged lobes before regrinding them to the correct profile.

QC Inspection

Following the reconditioning process, every camshaft is subject to a strict quality control inspection. We verify that lobe profiles and journal diameters meet or exceed OEM specifications. The shaft’s straightness is re-confirmed, and a protective anti-wear lubricant is applied to all critical surfaces. This final step guarantees the camshaft is ready for installation and will deliver reliable performance.
